Climate change is a hoax created by Al Gore huh?
The previous record for March 21st in my town here in Maine was 68 degrees. (set back in 2010).
Today? Right now weather.com says it is 85 degrees here. That number not only sets the record for today, but would be the record for every day in March and almost every day in April as well. And it will be just as hot tomorrow too.
A discussion about climate change and our system below the fold.
Now obviously I'm not saying that a record shattering March day here in Maine is proof of climate change, but there is plenty of scientific proof, and this is yet another example of how climate change could affect the United States.
This isn't an issue for people to make jokes about or for people to use as an issue to raise money or anger people. This is real. We are talking about the future of the planet we all live on. Certainly an issue more important than 99% of the discussions in Washington lately.
While people here in Maine watch high temperature records get shattered and wonder why this is happening how do most of the politicians in Washington react to climate change? One half of the political system doesn't even believe that there is a problem to begin with. That is a very serious problem.
Nothing has been done about climate change in any real terms because one half of the corrupt broken political system is paid to either ignore the issue (or in some cases paid by oil companies to sabotage any real progress on the issue) or they don't even believe that the problem exists.
It is very difficult to solve a problem like global climate change to begin with. But when half of the people in the most powerful country in the world who are supposed to have the job of helping to solve it don't want to solve the problem, or worse don't even think the problem exists, it becomes nearly impossible.
How much longer will we tolerate this? How much longer will we allow our system to be corrupt? How much longer will we allow an issue this serious to be ignored, mocked, and pushed to the back burner? Will we do anything or will we have to explain to future generations why didn't we do something before it was too late?
Well it isn't too late. Yet.
