In news that is huge everywhere but here at dKos (where it didn't even make it into the Overnight News Digest), Connecticut yesterday repealed its death penalty, replacing it with life without parole. The legislation passed the Connecticut House in an overwhelming bipartisan landslide of 86-62. Governor Daniel Malloy has already pledged to sign the bill, and when he does, Connecticut will become the 5th state in 5 years to abolish the death penalty. The momentum is on our side! Click on the link to read Dave in Northridge's excellent diary describing how both the author of California's death penalty statute, and the man who led the campaign to pass it, now support its repeal.
