Alex Wagner, who has her own show, NOW w/ Alex Wagner at noon ET on MSNBC, is the cable network's newer hipper offering of younger panelists of the political scene. While there isn't a set regular panel, S.E. Cupp is regular enough. She's got a husky voice, red hair, black rimmed glasses and always wears pearls. You can tune in and see Cupp twisting herself into a pretzel in order to justify any number of "conservative" positions and/or actions.
Cupp's wiki entry indicates she is an art history major and former ballerina. Also that she is an atheist who aspires to get religion some day. She's an author. Her book "Losing Our Religion: The Liberal Media's Attack on Christianity", didn't make much of a splash. It was either loved through confirmation bias and lauded because Cupp, as an atheist was touting religion, but ostensibly only Christianity, or panned for the pedantic collection of reiterative logical fallacy regarding the U.S. being founded as a Christian country.
I have no desire to read the book. Amazon has a tome's worth of reviews which would make reading it unnecessary and wasteful. Further, I am not concerned with imagined culture wars and the conservatives bemoaning the lack of fealty to their religious sensitivities when there are other pressing issues to go after.
I spent less than a half hour looking into Ms. Cupp. Going to her website one can find her 'library' filled with bird cage liners penned by......[the entire Faux line-up to include the now debenched Glenn Beck], Dinesh D'Souza, whom I thought only entertained worship from tall skinny blondes and of course Barry Goldwater.
In keeping with the blog format Cupp also lists her likes: her own book written before the one listed above, D'Souza again, NASCAR, Ted Nugent's Charity, and the FOX Forum.
Cupp has a page devoted to fan mail. This is not unlike what Markos recieves here although it is rather more coherent and the spelling and sentence structure much better overall.
So what does it all mean? What is an overweight ballerina to do? And by overweight, I mean a scosh over anorexic. How might this redhead make a dollar with her art history major? She's got the voice that doesn't produce much sibilance and that naughty librarian thing going on.
Follow the money. Sniff it out. Take a position contrary to a contrarian and make it sell. Be an atheist and promote Christianity, yeah, that's the ticket! Wear clothes that conjure images of a Catholic school girl. Go to the source, get a place on Glenn Beck. Write on your blog about how you like to hunt deer and how Herman Cain is such a stellar individual. Present convoluted excuses for Republican positions. Self identify as "...a scathing provocateur with almost no journalistic integrity.." while slamming Michelle Obama for her initiatives on better eating/nutrition.
There's no there, there, Ms. Cupp. While your submissions are voluminous they are content free. A big bowl of steam.
And Ms. Wagner, why do you allow this human box of styrofoam peanuts so much airtime on NOW? I can tell you think she is full of it by the look on your face when she speaks. Why let her slide? Why slough her off after she contributes her dross and cut to that other stray shill you seem to have adopted, Alice 'Obama's "radical Islamic policies"' Stewart?
The only reason I can see for Misses Cupp and Stewart being on your show is that you have varied hair colors. This is not any sort of weighty equivalency that needs airing. Neither of these women have any solutions, they are programmed right wing Chatty Cathys. They still have their feet firmly planted in the FOX machine.
You can do better.
