Thanks to your help recommending my last two diaries, here and here, 10,000 viewers have seen the preview to the film "MEGA-DITTOS!!! -- The Tea Party Cult.".
In the comments to "Watch Them Self-Destruct Before Your Eyes," Pluto suggested "Why don't you screen it at Netroot Nation this year?"
As a matter of fact, I have screened the film before a handful of focus group audiences. The reaction was very positive. One woman declared "every person in America should see this film."
Why? It reveals the tea party for who and what they are . . . and shows you a simple way to confront them. If you don't what I'm talking about, watch the clip.
In other words, Pluto's idea is a damn good one . . . especially since I am planning a promotional tour including a visit to DC and on to New York. Providence, RI, the location of Netroots Nation this year, is right in the neighborhood.
As I feared, it is too late to include a screening as a part of the regular programming. Fortunately, there are other ways for us to participate. We can present a short clip at a Saturday morning session. We can also attend a session to network with distributors and other film makers. Both of these would be excellent opportunities. But wait . . .
. . . we can also screen it offsite. The optimum way to do this would be to rent a theater, and show it on a big screen. Midnight screenings would be perfect, so as not to interfere with the Netroots Nation program.
We just need to get there.
You can help.
Right this minute, we have a campaign at Kickstarter to raise the seed money we need to kck off our promotional tour. We are not talking about a huge sum to get the ball rolling. Our screenings will charge a small donation to pay for the venue and travel. For this reason we are trying to raise a very modest minimum of $5000 for this tour. Depending on how well the screenings do, we would hope to take the tour nationwide, culminating at the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte in early September.
This summer is the time for this film, and Netroots Nation is perhaps the best venue we will find anywhere. Help us get there by visiting our Kickstarter page.
And recommned this diary, to give others an opportunity to bring this film the Netroots Nation.
One last thing. If you just can't wait until it comes to a big screen near you, you can see it online, right now.
