Good morning Kossacks and welcome to Morning Open Thread.
We're here every morning at 6:30 a.m Eastern time. Feel free to volunteer to take a day - permanent or just once in awhile. With the autopublish feature you can set it and forget it. Quite often the diarist de jour shows up much later (like me), that's the beauty of Open Thread...it carries on without you! Just let us know in the comments.
I've always been a morning person. I love mornings! In my family we all had to get up early and we always ate breakfast together. Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day, and it's probably my favorite meal to eat out.
When I think of mornings and breakfast, I think of a fresh start to a new day full of possibilities. Sometimes I get up so early that the neighborhood around me hasn't started stirring yet, and I love sitting with a cup of coffee and observing everyone around me coming to life.
No matter how bad the night before was, somehow everything is better in the morning.
So, since I'm winging my way to Chicago as you read this, I thought I would tempt you with pictures of my favorite breakfast foods. YUM!
Of course, no morning is complete without coffee, even though I have to do decaf these days.
Eggs Benedict. Nuff said.
My favorite pancakes are from Cracker Barrel, but homemade is fine too!
My grandmother used to call these snails, or "Schnecken."
Of course, no Jewish breakfast would be complete without BACON! Hey just because I can't eat it doesn't mean I don't like it!
So, if you can jibber jabber through the drool, please do so. For you non-morning people, I'm sorry if I made you sick.
