This disturbs me because our food is not being properly cared for. The neglect in basic scientific principals is what caused this disease to spread in the first place. The prions will not spread if these animals were provided with appropriate feed. Instead we get a crap shoot from an underfunded overworked agency trying to please corporations more than protect the public.

A senior manager with a Central California company says a cow at its Hanford, Calif., transfer station tested positive for mad cow disease.
Dennis Luckey, executive vice president of Baker Commodities in Hanford, told The Associated Press on Tuesday that the disease was discovered when the company selected the cow for random sampling.
