How can we miss Newt if he won't go away? We'll get to find out next week! :D
Today is a banner BANNER day for birthdays, so I'm just going to make a list, check it twice, and post a couple of appropriate faboo videos. ;D Edward R. Murrow was born on this date in 1908, Al Pacino is 72 today, Bjorn Ulvaeus,a singer in ABBA, is 67 today, Talia Shire is 66 today, Hank Azaria is 48, and Jason Lee is 42 today.
...and because I just can't resist... ;D
It's time for SPARK! :D I'm sorry, but as cool as this dress looks, it COULD NOT have been comfortable. Whoever came up with "Location - Location - Location" probably didn't have this place in mind! Finally, Beans - Beans the Musical Fruit have finally gotten the royal treatment. ;D
On with The Rachel Maddow Show...
"Borderline" - Rolling Stone has interviewed President Obama again, and he made a fairly direct skewering of his opponent along the lines of flip - flopping & Etch - a - Sketching. Our President had some choice words for MENSA members, too. The immigration reform bill sponsored by Senators Kennedy & McCentury would be along the lines of Karl Marx now. When that wasn't good enough, Senator McCentury signed onto the Dream Act. Now? Senator McCentury is against the Dream Act.
SCOTUS heard oral arguments today concerning the "Show Me Your Papers" state immigration law; man, I would've LOVED to have heard those today. Only 8 justices heard the case today because Justice Kagen recused herself. Again, if by some miracle there is a tie decision, the lower court ruling would stand that put the kibosh on the most odious parts of the law. Senator McCentury accused a reporter of putting words in Mittens' mouth that Mittens actually said. 1 of the authors of that $hit is Mittens' advisor on immigration issues. GOODY! *&^%$#@!
I wonder if Russell Pearce or Sheriff Joe listened to oral arguments today? The other co - author of SB 1070 got the Washington Post treatment. All these odious immigration laws are attempting to put the kibosh on changing the demographics of this nation - to keep the number low of non - white folks who tend to vote Dem. So, what about the perfectly legal minorities who live here who keep having babies & stuff? Mr. Pearce decided to yell at Senator Schumer in a Senate hearing concerning immigration, so he was in town to check out the SCOTUS activities today if he so desired. However, migration from Mexico is basically nil because Mexicans think their economic fortunes would be better staying the spark where they are. Steve Kornacki is in studio to talk immigration & the white race concerns of the GOBP. Mittens is being the good little GOBP soldier on the immigration issue. However, he knows he's pretty much toast with Hispanic voters, so Mittens is kind of sort of between a rock & a hard place - or non stiff place according to Mrs. Mittens. ;D
"Heroes Welcome?" - A majority of the American people really really want our troops out of Afghanistan yesterday. Those who have come home are waiting a horribly long time for mental health issue relief from the VA, and the VA is trying to hide how badly things are going. There was a Senate hearing about this horrid finding, and the head of the VA was invited to come but just said "no."
"'It Was Factually Incorrect, so That's the One I Feel Bad About'" - Man on Dog might kind of sort of make an apology?! I better get started on that bomb shelter again! ;D He also feels bad about calling President Obama a "snob." Well, a college education obviously did wonders for Man on Dog. ;D Here we are back on the winning - young - voters memo by discussing what will happen to Stafford Loans on July 1 if Congress continues to sit on their hind quarters. President Obama was at the University of Iowa today ragging on another MENSA Congress critter for his lovely comments about student loans.
"Something Borrowed, Something Blue" - OK, I hate to be Debby Downer, but President Obama fibbed a wee bit in his speech today. Students with current Stafford loans will not see their rates go up; it's students who borrow after July 1 who could see an interest rate increase. MENSA Congress critters might vote to keep loan rates down?! Back to that bomb shelter building!
Education Secretary Arne Duncan is talking how expensive school days school days are becoming. College is more expensive because states can't do as much to help schools in their state because they're trying to keep their own economic heads over water. I wonder how many Congress critters itching to get rid of public education actually were educated in a public school? For - profit colleges are really targeting veterans for their GI benefits. CLASSY!
"Best Newt Thing in the World Today" - Newtie's abandoning his POTUS run...this upcoming Tuesday. How 'bout that December 1 tape that HE was going to be the nominee, so that's why he was taking the high road. We then got a best of the worst (or the worst of the best) of Newt Gingrich in his run for the White House.
