This is my first ever comic strip. I haven't ever thought about doing a comic strip before. But what can I say? The Log Cabin Republicans inspired me.
If you don't know what I'm talking about, the Log Cabin Republicans are the big gay Republican group. A similar group is GOProud.
GOProud was barred from CPAC because the right hates gays. Nobody on the right condemns all the anti-gay vitriol from the right. This came up during a Republican primary debate, where every candidate stood idly by as the audience booed a gay servicemember. Classy.
After Obama came out for marriage equality yesterday, LCR put out a statement trashing him and saying the LGBT community should all be angry with him. They accused him of political calculation, too little too late, and so on.
Meanwhile, if ANY prominent Republican came out for same-sex marriage, first they'd all pee their pants with excitement, and then they'd gush endlessly about it, what it says about the Republican party, everything's coming up roses, etc.
You'll never hear them say we should be angry at the Republican party. You'll never hear them say we should be angry at Mitt Romney for his support of an anti-gay marriage amendment. They just call on him to stop being so anti-gay. The only time we're supposed to get angry at someone for not supporting us strongly enough is when it's a Democratic president who just came out for marriage equality.
If you didn't know about the Log Cabin Republicans, and your head just exploded at their absurdity, I apologize for bringing them to your attention.
In other news - I run a tour company, Detour Travel. "Small group tours with a twist!" I and the company are unapologetically progressive and overtly inclusive of straight & LGBT people. If you're ever shopping for a Latin American tour, give us a look. www.godetour.com
