This whole thing with Ricketts and VanderSloot has me thinking. First, is that the best name for a rectal cream ever? And second, maybe we're overlooking an inherent advantage. See below, beyond the Cheeto.
VanderSloot is a serial suer, a billionaire who arguably has lost his mind, and believes he has what he has because of divine intervention. Now to be clear, I'm an arbiter on his behalf in the ultimate courtroom, but no matter how horrible the consequences for other human beings, ValderSloot doesn't see the affect of his actions that way, and I can only assume God judges people on what they really belived at the time of their sins. To VanderSloot, his very opulence leads him to justify it as part of God's plan, as if God said, "I give you this money because you are my new prophet, so further thy wealth." God isn't known for working that way, and yet the MOTU seem to be psychologically immune to even momentary bouts of self-reflection.
But to the bigger point: We should identify all of the 1%, see how they identify themselves politically, see where they earn/spend their money. It should be all over the Internet. One of the few advantages we 99-percenters have is that there are 99 of us for every one of them. Let's identify the big money heavy hitters on both sides. For example, I read that Rickett's daughter is a Dem supporter. Frankly, the whole thing makes being a Cubs fan even harder than I thought it could ever be. Anyway, the MOTU shouldn't be that hard to find, and I think we should get to know them, and not just the pseudo-celebs.
I mean, if we're going to live in a plutocracy, shouldn't we at least learn about who's trying to buy us?
