Yesterday, we had great news. Vermont's Governor signed a law ban of Fracking. So I guess the Universe felt the need to turn the tides of justice back to the Yang of Ying. While new evidence (see evidence of racial bias and other issues weird at HuffPo story (here)) creating more debate about George Zimmerman killing of Trayvon Martin who is pleading Not Guilty due to Stand Your Ground Law in Florida. A mother who shot a gun into the wall as a warning shot - is now doing 20 years for trying to stand her ground - against a man who has physically assaulted her in the past.
Marissa Alexander turned down a deal to do only 3 years for a minor assault; because she sincerely believed she had done no wrong. You would think that Marissa had good cause to believe she was in the right. Marissa's husband has a history of violence that he ("Gray") even admits he is unable to control. But the Judge refused to permit Marissa Alexander to use the Stand Your Ground statute - because the court determined that Marissa could have run out of the garage. Despite the fact that Gray himself testified that he KNEW Marissa Alexander could not get away do to the garage being locked.
A family effort, grass roots movement has begun on Marissa's behalf and we ask you to join that effort - Please? We will let Marissa's daughters do the talking;
George Zimmerman's Prosecutor - A. Corey - Prosecuted Marissa
.
Yes, I know it is hard to believe, how small the world is, but reality is stranger than fiction. Angela Corey, the one and same prosecutor of George Zimmerman in the Trayvon Martin Killing - is also the same prosecutor who put away Marissa Alexander for 20 years. According to a CBS News story "
Fla. woman Marissa Alexander gets 20 years for 'warning shot': Did she stand her ground?" - prosecutor Corey said the sentence was mandatory;
Alexander's case was prosecuted by Angela Corey, the Florida State's Attorney who is also prosecuting George Zimmerman. Alexander was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, and because she discharged a firearm during the incident, the case fell under Florida's "10-20-life" law, enacted in 1999, which mandates a 20-year sentence for use of a gun during the commission of certain crimes.
Marissa Alexander's Husband Testified He's Unable to Control His Anger
,
What seems absurd here, is the fact that Marissa's husband has testified that he KNEW Marissa could not escape him; because the garage door is locked. Yet the Judge ruled there was no proof of that contention. I don't understand how someone can be smart enough to become a judge and dumb enough to contend that a purported victim's statement is erroneous. If the victim's own words are not valid - then the entire case is not valid.
Compounding that absurd logic even further, is the fact that the judge ruled Stand Your Ground laws do Not apply, if you have no reasonable fear for your safety. But this judge made a grave error. He prevented any testimony about Gray's violent past to be entered into the record; because it was not germane. I don't know of anything more germane than a person bigger than you, stronger than you and having a prior history of violence - not being relevant as to your fear of safety. This is inexplicable and intolerable. It demonstrates how ludicrous the systems of justice can be.
Here is Gray's own deposition / affidavit - where he confesses that he physically picked up Marissa and threw her out of his house when they argued before.
Again, let me re state that - Gray CONFESSED that he Physically Picked Up Marissa and Physically Threw her out of the house. Stating he cannot control his anger response when arguments transpire.
I suggest you read the transcript for yourself

where Gray says
"She's a little person"
"yes literally" [threw her out]
Conclusion
.
It is Absolutely absurd, incongruous and inexplicable that the Great State of Florida could EVEN think about letting George Zimmerman go free and yet charge a woman with a crime - when no one was shot. Especially under the even more idiotic premise that Marissa Alexander had nothing to fear. The man beat her and assaulted her more than once and even confessed to throwing her down and Marissa hitting her head on the bath tub; resulting in trips to the hospital.
I hope you join us in our campaign to help Marissa Alexander. It will be a long/ up hill battle. Even the local press states of Gray that it is "alleged" he was abusive. There's a DAMN deposition of him confessing he was abusive. See the local news story of the family's plight to save Marissa Alexander. As denoted by her children, the family is planning a March/ Rally on May 29th = to show support.
Here's the question - if she did not stand her ground and shoot - would she be here?
