Z's legal team hope to point out that money raised by Z is in an independent trust and cannot be directly accessed by him or his attorneys. If neither Z nor his attorney have access to this fund then who does?
If anyone here understands these trusts, could you please explain as I can not find anything anywhere that explains them.
He is back in custody in Florida jail. His legal team said today that they will ask for a new bond hearing that will address the concern of his creditability. It is the hope of his legal team that his voluntary surrender will indicate he is not a flight risk.
Z's credibility could become an issue at trial, noting the case hinges on jurors believing Mr. Zimmerman’s account of what happened the night in February that Mr. Martin was killed.
Prosecutor Bernie De la Rionda complained Friday:
“This court was led to believe they didn’t have a single penny. It was misleading and I don’t know what words to use other than it was a blatant lie.”
Part of the evidence presented to the judge for revoking the bond related to Z and wife discussing the money and the second passport Z had:
As evidence, prosecutors presented transcripts at Friday’s hearing of telephone conversations between Mr. Zimmerman, who was in jail, and his wife. They said the two were discussing in code what to do with the money.
The judge agreed and ordered Mr. Zimmerman returned to jail by Sunday afternoon, where he is now.
Stay tuned for the next bond hearing as it may set a precedent for the case if bond is denied based on his, and his wife's lies.
