Cardinal Dolan finally broke his silence over the revelation that he authorized payoffs to child raping priests:
“The New York Times does not have a reputation for fair and accurate reporting when it comes to this issue,” Dolan said yesterday after Mass at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in Midtown. “So, to respond to charges like that — that are groundless and scurrilous — in my book it’s useless and counterproductive.”
You see, this is all about the
New York Times. This is not about the
New York Times accurately reporting the contents of documents released by his former diocese in a court proceeding - documents which constitute conclusive proof of Dolan's complicity and which are undoubtedly genuine and which not only prove that he paid off child rapists but also that the subsequently lied about that fact.
No. It is just about the New York Times.
The cardinal also lashed out at an advocacy group — Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests — that has called the payments “secret deals” and “incentives.”
But Dolan fumed, “SNAP has no credibility whatsoever.”
You see, you must respect teh authoriteh of the organization that covered up the child raping, but the organization complaining about the child raping - well, they are probably even worse than a bunch of employees with vaginas.
