I'm going to do some silly, seemingly insignificant thing for the rest of this campaign. But I'm going to explain why in this space, in the hope that it will make sense to others who are likely to share my view of the world.
I hate making mistakes, at least when it comes to using words. I don't like texting, because it leads to making mistakes (that damn little touchscreen on my phone is a problem for me and my big fingers) and it's a big hassle to correct them, so I let them go more often than I would like. But on the whole, I'm a stickler when it comes to getting things right.
But I'll break with that for the next few months. Keep reading to find out why.
By putting a W in front of the Republican nominee's name, I will be making a deliberate mistake. Something which I would normally go to great lengths to avoid doing. But I'll be saying that I think, quite plainly, their candidate is wrong for America (or Amercia, as he spelled it out somewhere). I'm willing to be wrong, to make my point that Wromney is wrong, too.
But secondly, this big, bold capital R that he uses to turn into some sort of a red symbol on his signs is a psychological play by those whose brains are wired differently than mine. It stands for Republican, and Reagan, and maybe even Right, too. Perhaps there's a whole lot of other words that they're also trying to make Wromney into the embodiment of.
But I'm not willing to cede the big red R to these people, and if the letter that I use instead evokes images of the last Republican in the White House, I'm fine with that, too. He did endorse Wromney in his typical half-assed way, after all.
So Wromney it will be, for the next few months at least. Thanks for reading.
