I just finished reading the post regarding the SEIU State of the Nation - Poll: Nearly half of voters think GOP is sabotaging recovery. Of course they are! Anyone with half a brain knows that. Unfortunately, the average voter is not listening and does not have half a brain.
This election is about money. Just like the bumper sticker that reads "He who dies with the most toys wins", "he who runs for office with the most money wins".
Because my blood pressure just can't take anymore and I'm in danger of falling into the deep depression I was in during my son's 6 deployments, I have to quit paying attention. I have to limit myself the news I'm reading. I have stopped watching any political programming on TV. I am weaning myself off political talk radio (the exception is Stephanie Miller - I need the comic relief).
I have "unfriended" anyone on Facebook who makes stupid remarks about how President Obama is a muslim/illegal/job killer/socialist (ask the cretin's out there to define "socialist" and 90% do not even know what the word means)/etc/etc/etc. I just don't get it so it does no good to get angry. These people are not capable of looking at the other side. They are so blind in their hatred that they are committing treason against the country they insist they want to "take back" (yes, I believe members of the senate and congress and any other politician that repeats this vitriol and/or deliberately sabotaging the country is committing treason).
Teachers, firefighters, and police used to be revered as heroes. Just like in the Vietnam era when soldiers were spat at and hated, this is happening to our heroes. It will happen again and again until they get their way and while the money flows unchecked, this will happen.
I have also unsubscribed from the DNC, the DSCC, the DCCC, etc, that sends me email that I should be OUTRAGED at the latest crap the opposition is throwing out there. Supporting these groups is pointless. Look at Wisconsin - they were unwilling to put their full support to Walker's opponent and now we have all been humiliated.
The press is just as bad - they are so afraid of their corporate masters or losing "access" that they repeat the lies that, "well, both sides do it". Bulls***.
I will still vote for the candidate that I feel deserves my vote - that may not be a democrat. I will vote to re-elect President Obama - not because I feel he's so much better than Romney but because the thought of more conservatives on the Supreme Court is truly frightening.
So unless Congress and the press do their jobs - represent the best interests of the country - I have stopped listening.
