Heya everyone,
I'm a long-time lurker, long enough that I had no idea what my username was let alone my password, and had to track down my own information.
Like many of the rest of you, lately (by which I mean for most of the last decade) I've been sad when I look around at which this country has become. I've been scared. But most of all I've been angry. There's a political ad which had been kicking around in the back of my head for the past several wees, and yesterday it finally crystallized. I have none of the skills required to create it--I know absolutely nothing about editing/splicing/recording video. But I have the words: I can hear them; I can see them. I think they need to be heard, so here they are. . .
Back in 2010, one of the highest ranking Republicans in Washington said this:
[clip of McConnell saying that stopping Obama's re-election is the single most important thing they want to achieve]
Now, we all know that the Republicans hate our president. . .
[clips of Obama effigies hanging and burning, of tea-partiers with their vile signs, etc.]
. . . but how far are they willing to go?
Given the choice, would Republicans help rebuild the industries like GM which define us as a country. . . or would they rather beat Barack Obama?
[clip of McConnell]
Given the choice, would Republicans work to fix our broken health-care system. . . or would they rather beat Barack Obama?
[clip of McConnell]
Given the choice, would Republicans defend our country against terrorists like Osama bin Laden. . . or would they rather beat Barack Obama?
[clip of McConnell]
Given the choice, would Republicans do what was necessary to save this country from another catastrophic economic meltdown. . . or would they rather beat Barack Obama?
[clip of McConnell]
We know what the Republicans want, and what they stand for.
[clip of our president, saying something like, "I'm Barack Obama, and I stand with the American people."]
What do you want, and who will you stand with?
That's what I have. Thanks for listening.
