Still on the road, so the new bit is hotel room quality--a Shure 58 and cheap USB input box for the voiceover, some easily found clips and photos, mushed together on the free Windows video editing software. Not, as I said about the last one, my best work, but worth a look and a chuckle.
As usual, the direct link is here
I put this one out in its limited form to make a point: it ain't that hard.
Since I started posting self-made political ads here, I've been inundated with ideas for ads and videos. "You should do one about choice." "You should do one about campaign finance." "You should do one about agricultural subsidies."
And the truth is, no, I shouldn't. You should.
I'm no genius at this. I made my first video two years ago with a freshly stamped song and a handful of photos I took in New Orleans and along the Gulf coast, because I was pissed about Tony Hayward's whiny, self-absorbed comment on the BP oil spill.
It was crude and rudimentary, done in slideshow form with the iMovie software that comes free on Apple computers. Thanks to people here and elsewhere, it's gotten over 3,000 views.
Absolute beginner with something to say, free software and a sympathetic community. Presto--a message delivered.
I like doing this stuff. It's fun, it's effective and it seems to resonate.
You really should give it a try. You never know. You might actually be a genius at this.
