A healing pool testimonial from Ooooh (July 4, 2012)
In meditation recently it suddenly occurred to me to ask for some energy from the Healing Pool. For years I have struggled with musculo-skeletal pain, alternately my muscles felt like they were filled with cement or they were on fire, in addition mis-aligned bones were also an issue. That day I felt really good. In some ways the change was permanent, and with those changes I could see that it was actually muscles that were pulling bones out of place. That gave me the courage to purchase the book Muscular Retraining for Pain Free Living by Craig Williamson.
From the book I learned that I’d been doing every thing wrong: walking, sitting, standing, all of that and more. There are exercises in the book, but in most cases I have been exercising those muscles for years, I just didn’t realize I was supposed to be actually using them for walking and correct posture. Duh! Williamson also talks about how either holding on to emotions, or denying them can cause body pain as well. Helloooo! ...looking into a mirror much?
So after years of healing practice and emotional work, there is still more to do. After putting into practice what I learned from reading the book I am actually learning how to walk, stand and sit completely differently. From years of doing Hatha Yoga and Buddhist Lojong, observing subtle changes in my body and mind are second nature to me, but this relearning how to be in my body is one of the biggest challenges I’ve ever faced. So I pay attention to when I feel tension appear in my muscles, change what I'm doing, and with each passing day there is difference. Some days are still better than others. But the improvement is amazing, and it all started with that shot of energy from the healing pool.
This is not a very dramatic story, but it is a good example of how healing works, it isn’t all magic and woo woo. We are very frequently required to be full partners in our healing, so even though I have worked for years with a team of etheric healers and worldly chiropractors who continue to guide this healing process, it was the changes wrought by my experience with the healing pool that set me on this path, and for that I am profoundly grateful. On good days I notice with increasing flexibility there is actually more room for joy in my body and I look forward to a time when I inhabit a strong, lean, flexible body.
