Welcome to our daily series
* NEW DAY *
Every day is a new day and with that, a new opportunity.
Tell us what's going on with you, share your show & tell, vent, whatever you want...
Events Currently on the Books for SFKossacks
The SFKossacks have a reputation for Rolling Out the Red Carpet for out-of-town visitors. You just have to Kosmail me and we'll set something up for you if you ever visit us.
I have three events I'm currently organizing.
This diary is a heads up for anyone who wants to attend.
Definitely on the Calendar:
Sunday, August 5th: (hosts: citisven and kimoconnor)
San Francisco Sunday Streets sets pre-determined Sundays throughout the year when major streets are closed to car traffic. Pedestrians and cyclists, plus vendors take over. The local businesses flourish with increased foot traffic.
11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Valencia Street from 14th to 24th and 24th Street from Valencia to Hampshire
Transportation and Parking Directions
citisven and kimoconnor recommend you arrive after 11 a.m. to walk around and visit all the booths and stores. People watching is the main feature of the day.
Then, we'll all convene at a watering hole, its location as yet to be determined. I'll announce the address in this daily diary as soon as citisven and kimoconnor select it.
Then! Then! After 4 p.m. we'll all invade kimoconnor's lovely city garden for a backyard bbq. It will be potluck so keep that in mind. Food items can be dropped off in advance at Kim's place between 10:30 a.m. and noon before you walk around the Mission.
Here is my last diary about this terrific event:
San Francisco's Sunday Streets: Murals in the Mission [photo heavy]
Bonus! This just in as of 6:30 a.m. Red Carpet Rollout for angelajean! She's visiting relatives in the Bay Area and will join us at this event.
angelajean is a military wife who writes extensively at Daily Kos about that experience.
Sunday, August 19th Meet: Tim Delaney!
Tim is transcoasting to visit his sisters smiley creek (+Paradise50) and mimi2three in NorCal. After his visit there he's going to spend a few days in the Bay Area. The NorCal contingent will roll down with him.
Save the afternoon and early evening for a Red Carpet Rollout for Tim.
I'm trying to decide on the venue. We can do a restaurant in the city or, OR... I'm thinking we can do our Hog Island Oysters afternoon bbq in Point Reyes. I'm really leaning towards that. Any objections?
So....
Time and Location: TBD
But, soon we'll decide. It will be announced in this daily series.
Figbash has said she might fly out from Chicago to join us, hope so!
Stay tuned!
Tentively on the Calendar:
Steveningen works at the California Maritime Academy in Vallejo. He and I have been trying to set up an event there. He would like his facility to cater the event and he wants to arrange a tour of one the huge ships docked there.
We are currently looking at the following dates:
7/21 or 7/22
7/28 or 7/29
Stay tuned!
I'll report here in this daily series with updates for each event.
This diary is an example of what we do year-round to build our community. Personal bonds are strengthened and more SFKossacks are feeling comfortable creating events on their own, which I gladly support.
I've been organizing events for SFKossacks since 2005.

Let's build communities!
Every region needs a meat-space community like SFKossacks.
We take care of each other, for reals.
I urge YOU to take the lead and organize one in your region.
Please tell us about it if you do and I'm here for advice.
Okay. Floor's open.
Talk amongst yourselves.
