This one is not so candidate/party-centric, more meme-centric.
This past weekend, I wrote a brief rant about my new least-favorite shibboleth: "Job Creators." The gist of the piece was simple: if you want to call yourself a job creator, well, for freak's sake, create some damned jobs. Easy peasy. Back-pats all around.
But the people suffering from self-patting arm sprains these days seem to want the loving cup before running the race. They want lower taxes and regulation reduction and ever-thicker slathering of subsidies based on their job creating prowess while they CUT jobs.
Sorry, pals. I've actually worked jobs. Quite recently, in fact. Like, now, you know.
I wait between two and four weeks from the last second I set down my tools before I see the first check for the work I've done. I understand payroll cycles, accounting delays, bank holidays and the like. I dig it. I've got to wait to get what I've already earned. Way the game works.
So don't come to me and say you want to get paid for your stellar performance of job creation when you're sitting on $2 trillion in capital, unsure whether to hire because of "uncertainty" in the economy.
You want the rewards due a heroic "job creator?"
Start hiring, bitches.
