Some may recall that on Monday, June 18, 2012, I posted the diary ACTION! Help Save the Life of Darcy Doherty, Father of Three Children.
I am sorry to report that Darcy Doherty passed away on Tuesday, July 10, 2012.
Darcy never received the "experimental" cancer medication, BMS-936558, that could have saved his life. Until the end, Bristol-Myers Squibb refused to give him access to this new, potentially life-saving drug.
I simply do not understand why Bristol-Myers Squibb couldn't give him the medication he so desperately needed.
I want to thank everyone who signed the Petition, who "Liked" or Shared the Help Save Darcy Facebook Page, or otherwise reached out, helped, or fought.
Darcy's family should be very proud. Not only for fighting for their loved one, but also for raising important issues concerning access to "experimental" medication. Others will benefit and live because of their fight.
I'm very sad right now and, to be honest, very angry. This particular battle was lost. The war continues.
