Yeah, because that went so well last time.
In June, The Washington Post printed an article stating that Bain Capital moved jobs overseas. Romney's camp freaked out and demanded a retraction, going on and on about dates and the definition of various words. Members of Romney's camp actually met with Post editors, and left with hats in hand. No retraction was forthcoming.
Weak, weak, weak. Could they possibly look weaker?
Somehow they have found a way! How, you ask? Wait for it...
Demanding more retractions from more papers!! They are looking more frantic and frenetic about Bain Capital by the day.
According to Talking Points Memo, the Romney camp is again crying to their Mommy that Obama and the newspapers and everyone in the whole wide world is being mean to them.
They would like a retraction of this article from the Boston Globe, (let's give them a few more clicks), questioning the timing of Romney's departure from Bain Capital. In addition, they would like an apology from Obama himself for his villainous staffers who said that Romney could have committed a felony if he lied on his SEC forms.
Now, the Globe reported that SEC filings showed that Romney was still listed as CEO from 1999 to 2002, well after Romney claims he left to go to Utah. Them's the facts. I don't think a request for a retraction is going to go well. Romney's team may be able to claim that the whole story is more complicated than that (though it doesn't seem to be too complicated), but the SEC filings more than back up the Globe's story.
As to Obama's super-mean staffer, she also was adhering to facts. Someone who lies on SEC forms is committing a felony. She didn't say that Romney did that, she's just bringing up the fact that Romney has some 'splainin' to do.
Note to Romney and crew: politics is hard!
In conclusion, I'd like to point out that Obama has had Romney on the run, trying to explain things, backtracking, crying about coverage, for how long now? A week? A few weeks?
Let's keep the pressure on Mitt Romney and his Band of Merry Liars.
UPDATE:
Globe Says, "Thanks, But No Thanks" on That Retraction
This is my favorite bit from the letter:
In your correction request, you reiterate points that are fully detailed in the Globe story.
So I guess all that's left to do is for Romney to storm out of the room, up the stairs, and slam the door to his room REALLY LOUD. (My son does that, it's not really that effective)
