UPDATE:
Last night your fellow Kossacks pulled together and Okiciyap Group did Reach their goal to raise a total of $845.00 to purchase and ship a new refrigerator to Isabel, SD. Thank you all for your time, and comments, recs and most important, your support of the Okiciyap (we help) Food Pantry and Community Center. Don't forget, it is only $5.50 each month to buy a pound of food per day for the pantry!

Cold wholesome foods are not now a possibility for poor children and elders who visit the Okiciyap Food Pantry in Isabel, South Dakota, because the 35 year old refrigerator at the Okiciyap Food Pantry is unreliable. Okiciyap (we help) Group at Daily Kos is determined to raise enough money to replace the old refrigerator with a new one so they can run their summer feeding program, offering nutritious meals at breakfast and lunch.
We published a full diary on Sunday, but it was the peak of "Romney Retires Retroactively", and we couldn't get near the rec list. We didn't reach our goal of $845 to purchase and ship a 25 cu.ft, side-by-side Whirlpool refrigerator.
Please, help us help. Any donation is welcome, no matter the size.
Here is a comment from Spirit Dancer about the cost of food for the pantry:
Still, did you know all it takes is $0.18 to buy a pound of food? $1.80 for 10 pounds, $18.00 for 100 pounds and so on. The folks they serve bring their change in too.
Don't forget my 18 cents a day challenge - that's roughly $5.50 a month... how about it folks? are ya in?!

Okiciyap got a delivery of food today, here's a comment from betson08:
* [new] Here's what Emily said they got (1+ / 0-)
um...this time we got a pallet of 1 liter bottles of water, a pallet of food boxes which had loads of different stuff in them, and a pallet that had crackers, baby food, coffee and some other stuff....tomorrow we are getting our delivery from Feeding South Dakota and hopefully they come in the morning because we're suppose to be in the 100's! we're all gonna melt even with the AC! lol
So now they're eligible to get this stuff because they have the building in place - thanks to Kossacks - and they have the ac in place - thanks to Kossacks- and they were able to pay for some of this stuff - thanks to Kossacks! And ONLY Kossacks by the way.
YAY!
