As July winds to a close, thoughts here at Casa Brillig have turned to (A) The Olympics, particularly the swimming; and (B) our vacation plans next month. Follow me below the dingledoodlesquiggliedKosagnocchidividerthingie fold after a word from our sponsor...

Here at dKos, I know our summer plans are as varied as we ourselves... some are likely taking well-deserved vacations to places near and far, others are staycationing, while others for reasons economic and other cannot take vacation.
Last summer, a combination of expenses, Mr. Brillig's work schedule and poor planning on my part led to us not taking a family vacation. While we had fun visiting friends for a week in NJ, I am fairly sure that to the K's, "helping friends bail out a flooded basement after Irene" did NOT qualify as "vacation".
This year, we made sure to plan better and are going to North Conway, NH for a week. K1 wants to show her brother StoryLand, and we're hoping to go horseback riding and/or kayaking. Other than that we've got rest, relaxation, and a reprieve from our laptops planned.
A friend of mine is making me envious today - on a whim, she found a flight to London and is taking her daughters to the Olympics. I don't have the $2100 for 3 plane tickets plus more for food, lodging and event tickets, so her spur-of-the-moment indulgence is a fantasy for me. Which got me to thinking...
If money were no object, what would you do for summer vacation? What's your fantasy vacation? I've got two dream getaways this year: either a trip to the Olympics with a long side visit to the Scottish Highlands, or a trip to Australia. Mr. Brillig and I went to the Scottish Lowlands back in 1995, and I'd love to get further north. I've never been to Australia and it is most definitely on my bucket list.
Where would you go?
Brillig's ObDisclaimer: The decision to publish each nomination lies with the evening's Diarist and/or Comment Formatter. My evenings at the helm, I try reeeeallllyy hard to publish everything
without regard to content. I really do, even when I disagree personally with any given nomination. "TopCommentness" lies in the eyes of the nominator and of you, the reader - I leave the decision to you. I do
not publish self-nominations (ie your own comments) and if I ruled the world, we'd all build community, supporting and uplifting instead of tearing our fellow Kossacks down.
