Here it is, almost 3pm (at this writing), and I just remembered that I'm on the hook for WYFP tonight.
So, what to write about?
But first, a word from our sponsors:
WYFP is our community's Saturday evening gathering to talk about our problems, empathize with one another, and share advice, pootie pictures, favorite adult beverages, and anything else that we think might help. Everyone and all sorts of troubles are welcome. May we find peace and healing here. Won't you please share the joy of WYFP by recommending?
I was going to put in a pootie pic but icanhascheezeburger appears to be down. :-/ More beyond the twisted Cheeto...
In two weeks, I'll be in San Luis Obispo celebrating my nephew's wedding. Might be the last thing to celebrate for a while.
Family life is taking its toll. My mother-in-law is back home from her nursing center, but she's being forced to pay an extra high care fee at her senior residence because of the extra help she needs, and she wonders if the extra cost is worth it or if she'd be better off elsewhere...which would mean having to help her move. And there's no guarantee she can find someplace that offers the services she wants (and needs). Plus I've got research to do for her; the shoes she likes are no longer being manufacutured so I need to try and find an alternative, take pictures and if she likes them we'll take her to the store to try them on. It's going to be pricy -- she wants to get 2 pairs so she can have a large one to fit her foot with the brace and a regular one to fit her normal foot -- and she's complaining about how much it'll cost.
Our rent is going up next month by $125 -- which, when you're on a fixed income, is a BFD. We're mainly hanging in until March of 2014; that's when I turn 55 which is when my spouse's former employer will start paying for my health insurance. That will give us several hundred more dollars a month.
In the meantime, the spouse applied for a part-time job...but we're worried he might have blown the screening interview because he didn't want to answer questions about his college education (which is pretty minimal, and he didn't understand what that had to do with the job for which he was applying). We're hoping that maybe he'll get a call anyway, but we're tempted to do a second application and see if he might be able to slide through this time.
Sometimes I wonder if all this crap is worth it in the end... sigh
So, what's on your plate?
