Reuters has a bit more details now:
Multiple people, including law enforcement officers, were shot on Monday when a gunman opened fire near Texas A&M University, police in College Station, Texas, said.
"We have multiple people who have been shot," police spokeswoman Rhonda Seaton told CNN, adding that law enforcement officers were among those.
The gunman fired shots from inside a home about two blocks from the campus, according to the university's alert.

Constable, Civilian and Gunman Confirmed Dead
COLLEGE STATION, Texas—A Brazos County constable, a civilian and the gunman himself have been confirmed dead after a suspect opened fire near the Texas A&M campus Monday afternoon, according to the College Station Police.
The suspect was shot by responding officers, taken into custody and later pronounced dead.
A male and a female civilian were also shot. The man has been reported dead by police and the female is currently undergoing surgery.
And colleges and universities are prepping for these terrible events now, in a way that is both chilling and understandable. See this Texas A&M school website page for Student Emergency Instructions in the case of an Active Shooter event:
