Amy Davidson's posting in the Daily Comment feature of the New Yorker magazine is a deft and compelling essay that neatly demonstrates the rank hypocrisy of Paul Ryan; and at the same time, it validates President Obama's "You did not build it alone" thesis.
Using the literary device of comparing the hardship that presidential candidate Al Smith faced when his father died in 1886 with the benefits of Social Security, a public college and the "safety net" afforded to Paul Ryan when his father died a hundred years later in 1986, Davidson makes you cringe when you consider the Rand inspired policies embraced by Ryan. Indeed, after reading this piece, you might wonder if Ryan is either stupid, or suffers from amnesia.
