The first steps taken by a right-wing political party eighty years ago in order to gain control of a country are being being repeated, right here, right now.
In the 1930s in a central European country a right-wing political party took the first step required to convert their country to what they envisioned as a conservative, right-wing political paradise.
That first step was to pass a law preventing a significant portion of their population from voting.
The result was successful beyond anything they had hoped for. That country became the premier example of the ultimate right-wing controlled country and became the most infamous right-wing country in all of history. This success of right-wing politics led to the destruction of the country, along with six million innocent people of a specific ethnic origin and several million other people considered sub-human.
In the United States right now we have another conservative, right-wing political party passing laws that prevent a significant portion of our population from voting.
This first step in gaining right-wing political control by preventing voting is exactly the same in the United States as it was in that European country.
As the European case shows, right-wing political control has no bounds and has no limits on its barbaric ultimate goal which is extermination of everyone who doesn't agree with their right to dictate every facet of everyone's life.
If we continue to sit back and watch passively as the right-wing political party, the Republicans, take the first step to tyranny, we will be as guilty as they are in the consequences. We must not allow to happen here what happened in Europe.
When we go to the polls, we must not collaborate with the Republican Voter Suppression law. We must refuse to follow the Republican requirements for voting and take the side of the five million people who will be prevented from voting by the Republican's actions.
The people in that European country didn't do that, they sided with the right-wing political party instead of their fellow countrymen who were being suppressed.
By not refusing to go along with right-wing voter suppression they allowed that first step to destroy their country.
It can't happen here? It's happening here right now.
