Being a frequent reader (and contributor) at RedState I can unequivocably tell you that Erick Erickson has completely gotten on board the Republican bandwagon for the remainder of the election.
Yes, I do contribute at RedState under a different name but we will have to leave that one alone for the time being. Someday I will recount my adventures there in full, but not just yet. They really like to ban people there.
As long as the primaries were in progress they tolerated dissent as long as it was full of Obama hate. Now that Romney is the man, however, the dissent is largely gone. To Erickson's credit he has always said that the site was there to promote real conservatives in the primaries and Republicans in the general elections, whoever that turned out to be. So it isn't any wonder what one sees now.
First and foremost, they have conveniently just done a complete makeover of the site and for some inexplicable reason no one but the front pagers can actually put up our equivalent of diaries. They are supposedly working to fix that. Of course they know very well that they have a lot of STONGLY anti-Romney people there as came out in the primary season. I guess that serves as a fig leaf for now. The only thing the rank and file reader can do in addition to reading is to comment in other diaries.
Given the flip-flop on abortion that Romney is now pulling, you would think that there would be a scream so loud from those folks that it would drown out everything else. Two months ago, Romney's sister's comment about Mitt practically being Pro-Choice would have resulted in outrage on the front page. Today, nothing there are all about it. In order to hear the discontent one needs to go into the comments. Without a real article to attach the comments to, the social conservatives are everywhere looking to unload, but the outrage is muted.
I'm pretty sure they are heavily censoring everything. Any comment that gets out of line is being suppressed. The rabid dogs I have seen there in the past would not be tolerating it.
I think that what we are seeing yet another reinvention of Romney and this is going to continue. The real question is whether or not Erick will tolerate it. Will he toe the line all the way to election day, putting up with one move after another to the center by Mittens? I fully expect that the pre-election polls will determine what happens. If the polls are close, he will keep his sphincter tightly shut until election day. Win or lose, there will be a shit-storm on November 7. If on the other hand, the pre-election polls go from bad to worse, I suspect that he will eventually throw in the towel early and let his sphincter relax a little.
Meanwhile, it is always fun to watch the SoCons and the FiCons flaming each other in the commentaries. They are so pathetic.
Here's an article to look at if you want to witness it first hand:
