Ok, so by now we're all tired of this You Built That/You Didn't Build That craziness spewing from the Republican convention.
Just for fun, let's talk about what we have built...with our hands, or imagination, or hard work. And I'll go ahead and stipulate the obvious truth that none of us could build anything without help of roads, electricity, teachers, sewage plants, etch-a-sketches, safety pins, Gatorade, duct tape or WD-40. We couldn't have built anything without knowledge gained from going to schools that were built before we could go to them and taught by teachers who went to colleges built before they attended.
For example: I've literally built two redwood decks and a flight of stairs outside my house (which I couldn't have done without someone to hew the trees, cart the lumber.....you get it). I've laid tile floors but couldn't have done so without the tiles being made and the tools I used being made. Imagine if I had to figure out what soils and minerals had to be found in nature...then combined properly to make the tiles. Well I didn't have to do that. Someone else helped me out by making the tiles for me to buy and use.
I've built a practice that pays the bills and helps other people, which I couldn't have done without newspapers to run my ads and telephone lines so people could make appointments. I know it would be extremely difficult for people to come to my office without the help of the road to my office that was built by the town.
I find it quite ironic that the Republican Party's big theme on Tuesday was "we built it," while holding their convention in a publicly financed building built by union workers.
Of course, it is now obvious to me the GOP is completely divorced from honesty and truth. All they have now is truthiness.
Have a little fun below and tell us what you've built!
So-- what have you built?
