As we move toward tonights final speech by GOP Nominee Mitt Romney, it's becoming more and more clear that the GOP has effectively trapped themselves in a cage of lies about the record of President Barack Obama and their own agenda.
As a result they've set the perfect stage for the Democratic Convention to spend their time rebutting point by point what the GOP has gotten wrong.
Once that happens, and the Media confirms yet again that the GOP Campaign is built on a Mountain Of Lies - what do they do next?
Do they start telling the truth and try and redirect their campaign in a completely new direction - or do they simply keep lying.
After the Paul Ryan speech it's no longer a case of He Said/He Said.
U.S. News and World Report called Ryan a Liar.
The AP said the RNC Convention Speeches "Strayed from Reality".
Laying out the first plans for his party's presidential ticket, GOP vice presidential nominee Paul Ryan took some factual shortcuts Wednesday night when he attacked President Barack Obama's policies on Medicare, the economic stimulus and the budget deficit.
Even FoxNews has called last night a
Record Number of Lies.
But really, the proper response to a speech like this isn’t to carefully analyze the logic, or to find instances of hypocracy; it’s to call the speaker out for telling flat-out lies to the American people. Paul Ryan has had what I’ve long thought was an undeserved good reputation among many in the press and in Washington. It shouldn’t survive tonight’s speech.
But it's not just Paul Ryan. These Lies are repeated daily by GOP operatives day in and day out, and have been coming from speech after speech in Tampa.
They're Lying about "You Didn't Build That'.
They're Lying about the $716 Billion in Medicare savings.
They're Lying about the Stimulus
They're Lying about the Detroit Bailout, particularly the closing of the Janesville GM plant.
They're Lying about the Simpson/Bowles commission.
They're Lying about the S&P Downgrade.
They're Lying about their own Record on Spending and Debt.
The entire country, just about every media outlet is saying that they're LYING openly. It's not a difference of opinion. It's not a matter of spin. It's not a matter of "He said" and then "He Said". They're LYING.
All the Obama Campaign has to do is tell the truth.
All they have to do is be honest with the American People - and if they do that, what's the GOP going to do in response?
Have a Truth-gasm? I doubt it.
