Hey RNC Speakers, after two days of very, very painful RNC liveblogging and such, I have noticed a trend of very stiff, awkward, incoherent, flat out boring speeches. Seriously I am not being partisan on this... they are horrible. The two AG's who did the Supreme Court speech together was just flat out cringe-worthy. So to help out, I have this video of a speech also given this week, so maybe you can pick up some pointers.
Here are some choice quotes (sorry for quick translations but you can get the whole thing on youtube) from the above video for those unfortunate enough to be unable to watch:
When disaster strikes we are Americans first. One family. And we help our neighbors in need.
...
'class is in session'. I didnt hear as many cheers come on. Wooo!"
...
'Just over 2 months from now for maybe the first time in your lives you will get a chance to pick a president. And the truth is you have more at stake than anybody. When you step into the voting booth the choice you make in that instant is going to shape your country and your world for decades to come. And i know that is a pretty heavy idea to lay on you on a Tuesday'.

These decisions are going to effect my daughters as well. Your generation decides our path as a country. Your vote decides where we go from here. Will we make sure that more jobs take root here in Iowa and across America so you don't have to leave home to get those jobs? (Crowd roars). Are we going to reward an honest days work with a chance to buy a home, with healthcare, with retirement. Easier to afford your degree and pay your loan debt. Are we going to hire more teachers, build more schools, and prepare for the 21st century? Will this be a country that keeps moving away from foreign oil and towards renewable energy (cheers). Makes our planet and economy more secure. Will this America be an America where you can make it if you try no matter where you come from? That's what the last four years have been about. That's what this campaign is about. And that's why I am running for a second term. (4 more years. 4 more years)

I know its easy to get fed up with politics. Sometimes it seems meaner and smaller and more gridlocked than ever. Cynics will tell you nothing really changes, you cant make a difference. You cant close a gap between life as it is and life as you want it to be. Old folks will always tell you that. I am in that category now. And frankly some folks make it their strategy to make you discouraged. Some will tell you how bad it is, and how its all Obama's fault. And if your faith changed you were foolish or naive. They would write you off as a lost generation. And what they hope is that you will get discouraged and stay home. You cant believe it. I don't believe it. We knew solving our problems would take more than one year or one term. But we got started. We have work to do but we will get there. I believe that. I believe in you.
...
We created a college credit saving parents 10,000 dollars over 4 years. We doubled grant aid for millions of students. We just won the fight to keep student loans from doubling. That would not have happened if not for you. You did that. Don't believe them when they tell you you cannot make a difference.
...
What the other side calls Obamacare, I have grown to like that term. I do care. I care about folks with preexisting conditions, about kids without insurance, and so today because of the new healthcare law, nearly seven million young people, including some of you, have been able to stay on your parents plan. Your grandparents are saving money. Women have gained access to free preventive care. You made that happen. You made that change. We should call his plan Romney-Doesnt-Care.
It was people like you who said we could end the war in Iraq. Today that war is over. More troops are home with their families, earning their educations due to the GI bill. And nobody again will ever have to hide the person they love, to serve the country they love because your vote ended DADT once and for all. You made that change.
....
This week my opponents will offer you their Agenda. It will be an entertaining show, Im sure they have wonderful things to say about me... but what you won't hear from them is a path forward that meets the challenges of our time. Instead it will be an economic plan saying give the rich a tax cut then jobs and prosperity will magically rain down on everybody else. We tried this for 10 years before I was elected. It didnt work then and it wont work now. I dont want to pay for a tax-cut on the rich on the backs of the middle class. That's not how we grown an economy. You will choose if we give tax cuts to those who have already made it, or for those who are trying to make it.
I think women should be trust to make their own healthcare decisions. (big cheers). That's a choice you have to make. I think that students brought here as babies should not be kicked out of the only country they know. I don't think the constitution needs rewritten to keep gay Americas from marrying. That's your choice. The strength of our character does not come from shoving people to the sidelines. It comes from hearing every voice, harnessing every talents, realizing we are greater together than on our own. Governor Romney said ending the war was tragic. He doesn't have a plan. I said we would end the war, we did. I said we would get Bin laden, we did (big cheers). We are bringing our troops home, we will serve our veterans like they have served us. (big cheers). These are your choices.
I am asking you to believe in you. Your abilities. We have lots of work to do. Lots of energy to generate, teachers to hire, young people to send to college, jobs to create, schools to build, troops to bring home, veterans to take care of, doors of opportunity to open up. Thats why I am asking you for another term and if you are willing to stand with me, vote for me, we will win this election. God bless you! God bless the USA.
I cannot type anymore as lunch-break is over. Go watch the entire thing and pass it on! The last minute is epic and sent a shiver down my spine! (take that Matthews!) It is a reminder of what is at stake and a reminder of just how different two people can be. And for you RNC folks still reading, take these notes:
Be honest.
Be engaging.
Be funny.
Be smooth.
Be hopeful.
Be clear.
And dont be so damn negative. Because the past two days I have witnessed the single most negative, hopeless event of my life.

Governor Romney promised that sometime between taking the Oval Office and going to the Inaugural Ball, he’d sit right down, grab a pen, and kick 7 million young people off their parent’s plan by repealing health reform. Day one, that’s what he says he’s going to do.
AUDIENCE: Booo --
THE PRESIDENT: Maybe we should call his plan "Romney Doesn’t Care" -- (laughter) -- because I do care. (Applause.) I do care. And this law is here to stay. Now is not the time to refight the battles of the last four years. Now is the time for us to go ahead and move forward.
