I was always fascinated with the old Star Trek episode about tribbles ... As written, they had a remarkable capacity to soothe and relax, except for feedings, they had no real needs, no litter box or exercise requirements. They had kind of a trill purr, loved intimate contact and petting ... no real downsides to them at all. Of course, cats purr, and I love ‘em dearly. But they do poop and pee and ... have other requirements. They don’t reproduce as prolifically as tribbles, and they are not ‘born pregnant. Nothing else behaves precisely like a tribble. Nothing else functions quite like it. But we do what we can in the world we have.

Kathy sent me a little YouTube video I wanted to share further ... Other than what I read in the description I know nothing of the background of this, but ... I found it unimaginably soothing and comforting, and I hoped it might function the same for you, in this season of incredible tension and stress. In my book, anything which builds down tensions, even for a short while, is a good thing, and I can return to the competition refreshed and energized. May it function the same way for you!
Please note: Under no circumstances do I intend for anyone to modulate her or his efforts in this intense campaign season. I applaud your passion, I applaud your commitment - and my own. But may some peace within, however brief, AUGMENT our efforts, focus and effectiveness!
Peace within, strength without!
On to tonight's comments! (Courtesy of brillig! Please tip her accordingly, as shall I!)
brillig here - anything that brings a moment of Zen, a bit of peace, ought to be nurtured. I find good friends do just that sometimes. Thank you, ben.
Brillig's ObDisclaimer: The decision to publish each nomination lies with the evening's Diarist and/or Comment Formatter. My evenings at the helm, I try reeeeallllyy hard to publish everything without regard to content. I really do, even when I disagree personally with any given nomination. "TopCommentness" lies in the eyes of the nominator and of you, the reader - I leave the decision to you. I do not publish self-nominations (ie your own comments) and if I ruled the world, we'd all build community, supporting and uplifting instead of tearing our fellow Kossacks down.
From Melanie in IA, Puddytat AND first-time nominator notrouble:
This comment by Flint is just too accurate at showing the parallels between the republican government plan and the republican business plan, and should be a diary on its own.
From NWTerriD:
Toymaker's comment is the best response ever to bogus conservative claims that ACA will ration health care.
From BeninSC:
sfbob on the distinction between genius and crafty! I should say he's NOT a genius! Never will be!
From brillig:
gchaucer2 comments on the insensitivity of Romney. Then points out what the "news" reporters didn't.
So Ryan ran, then didn't run, a sub-3hr marathon? cgvjelly has thoughts on this.
