Orange Squiggle of Down-Ticket Power
EDR compiles, describes and links election related diaries for down-ticket races through the closing months of election seasons. Down-ticket means any non-Presidential race.
This group was formed by the producers of a front page diary series that rescued election related diaries in 2006, 2008 and 2010. 2012 marks the first election since Daily Kos was born that there is blog devoted to election coverage - Daily Kos Elections.
Election Diary Rescue is proud to be a part of this project.
EDR chronicles the passion, power and effectiveness of political engagement and shines a light on candidates and issues that might be missed during an action-packed election cycle. It gives quick access to races, hopefully inspires people to write about contests that interest them, and has become an archive for thousands of election related diaries over the years. For the archive of this project, founded by sidinny, please go to our EDR closing diary for the 2010 election which links all the rescued diaries since 2006.
Format, Schedule & Tags:
Diarists can help the EDR mining team by identifying the race in the diary title, for example: (FL-14) or (GA-Gov) or (NY-Sen). Our miners will also be searching by tags so it will help if diarists include the tags "elections" and/or "EDR" in their diary tag list. New this year, you can write your first sentence or two as the synopsis you would like to see in the EDR description.
EDR's schedule for mining diaries is noon to noon. Our publishing schedule is in the evening. That means for example if you post your diary at 12:00 pm (noon) on Wednesday, we will include it in the EDR list in Thursday evening's post. If you publish your diary at 11:59 am on Thursday, it will be in the diary collection for Thursday evening as well.

[MA-Sen] Undecided Voters and Obama campaiging will put Warren over top by sreeizzle2012 - Obama is going to win MA big. He wins above 60% of the vote again. Presidential election turnout will make Warren's chances go up. President Obama campaigning hard for Warren along with other Democrats will push the undecideds to Warren. Undecideds are planning to vote for Obama up to 70%. Lastly, the turnout numbers in some polls are far from 2008 levels.
[WI-Sen] Russ Feingold: Tommy Thompson owes Tammy Baldwin an apology by Scott Wooledge - The former Wisconsin Senator says Thompson (R) has unfairly maligned Baldwin (D).
House
[AZ-04] Recount Underway in AZ-04's Democratic Primary by Jimdotz - Thought Arizona's primaries were over on August 28th? Not in AZ-04, they're not…Mikel Weisser and Johnnie Robinson are separated by less than one-tenth of a percentage point following last month's primary election.
[CA-24] WTF is going on in CA-24? by Attorney at Arms - A volunteer canvasser for Lois Capps (D), being challenged by ex-lieutenant governor Abel Maldonado (R) in California's 24th district, wonders why campaign ads appear to have Capps running as an anti-tax Republican while Maldonado isn't even admitting to actually BEING a Republican. Due to redistricting, Capps' incumbency in the 23rd CD has been switched to the 24th.
[FL-09] The First Space Alien by Alan Grayson – Congressman Grayson entertains us as he fights to retake a seat in congress. Lots of links to help him.
[FL-26] David Rivera criminal associate flees authorities by kos - Incumbent David Rivera (R) came up with some creative primary shenanigans by recruiting a hotel worker to run against his nemesis Joe Garcia (D), and putting a Republican "bad girl" associate in charge of the fake campaign. That "bad girl" is now on the lam after failing to show up for an interview with the FBI.
[MD-01] Voter fraud allegation ousts Md. Democratic Candidate by dadadata - In a very interesting case Wendy Rosen (D) has withdrawn from the race under accusations by the Maryland Democratic Party of voter fraud. The Maryland Democratic Party will appoint an alternate nominee to face Republican Andy Harris.
[NC-10] Eric Clapton, B.B. King And… Patsy Keever by downwithtyranny - A chance to win the coolest thing ever - a B.B. King/Eric Clapton, Riding With The King "double platinum" custom award plaque and help out Democrat Patsy Keever in her race against incumbent Patrick McHenry (R).
[House-Var] Defeat the Three Stooges by Maxlongstreet - Three of the biggest clowns in congress are in competitive races for their seats this fall. [NY-StSen-Dis.60] Paid for by the committee of homophobes lacking irony by Scott Wooledge - The Republican primary in the 60th has gotten very nasty. Various
[House-Sen-Polling] Daily Kos Elections Polling Wrap: Obama bounce could be having downstream benefits for Democrats by Steve Singiser - But, the bigger news for the Democrats: today made clear the fact that Barack Obama was not the sole beneficiary of a Democratic Convention bounce. For the first time in forever, even the House of Ras had to concede that the generic congressional ballot favored the Democrats. Meanwhile, several individual race polls looked quite good for the blue team.
[Various] Political Geography, Part 4: The West by sawolf - Another installment in the diarist's series on the political landscape in states down to the county level, with the usual charts for demographics, past voting and trends. A very useful resource for political wonks.

Obama will win. But the big issue is Congress. by WorldWeary - Events and Data on the heels of the Democratic Convention suggests that Obama will destroy Romney. Now we need to make it a progressive priority to work on the down-ticket contests with a Dean-ian Fifty State Strategy.
Republican Senate takeover hopes fading. Let's extinguish them. by Joan McCarter - A call to action to help Democrats retain the Senate in November.
StephenCLE's Election Ratings - Sept 10 by StephenCLE - Diarist gives his ratings on Democratic chances in the Presidential, Senate and House races.
Vote the Democratic Ticket by Prute Advisory Board of California - There is plenty of good news about President Obama's chances of winning reelection. But we should not lose site of the fact that just winning the presidency won't take the U.S. out of the stalemate created by a majority Republican House or Senate that cannot overcome a filibuster. The Democratic Party must win "down-ticket" - all those Senate, House, governor, assembly, state senate, city council, supervisor, school board, and dog catcher elections.
