but not for the reasons you wrote about in your memo to CNN.
Yes, as you point out, Barack Obama is a gifted orator, and yes, he is seasoned, having debated Hilary Clinton and John McCain head-to-head, but if he won all of those debates 'comfortably' (as you claim) then how tough could they have been? I mean, seriously..... John McCain? Grumpy Gramps? Whose one memorable line of all the debates was his dismissive 'that one'..... yeah, that John McCain.
And you're right: this election will not be decided by the debates, but only because our guy doesn't need to win the debates to win the election. Your guy is circling the drain, and it's getting uglier and uglier every day, so our guy doesn't have to do much more than show up.... but he will do more than that, you can count on that.
So, Ms. Myers, follow me over the squiggly and I'll educate you on why OUR guy is going to win the debates.
It's really simple, Ms. Myers, and if you could get past your bias (bought and paid for by Mitt Romney for years, btw), you'd see it as plain as we do:
Our guy is just plain awesome, simple as that! It doesn't hurt our side that your guy is.... well..... no other way of accurately describing it.... a dick. But that doesn't really matter, because even if your candidate was great (hmmmm, running down the list of choices and not finding anyone even close to 'great'), OUR guy is simply a better person, and it will show as soon as he opens his mouth.
Our guy has a clear, forward-looking vision for our country, and he cares deeply about ALL of us. We know this without needing to think about it at all - and you would too, if you could drop your paid-for bias. Your guy? Oh, please, don't get me started. Other than his money (safely hidden all over the world), and his family, and perhaps his church (the one that forces him to write the check he cries over), there is no real sign he cares about much.... certainly not all of us in the 47%.
I could go on for hours (and have at times, much to the dismay of my wife and friends), but let's just go with one more:
We love our guy, plain and simple. No, he's not perfect - we don't ask or need that. We know he's got our backs, and we've got his. Your guy? It's funny, last weekend I went to visit family back east and I brought a clothes-pin for my brother-in-law (staunch Republican, who'll vote for Romney 'because Obama...') to put on his nose when he went into the voting booth. And now I find that Republicans seem to have nicknamed your guy 'Stench'..... how fitting..... and descriptive.
So when the election is over, and our guy wins, you can count on 2 things:
1. Mitt Romney will still pay you lots of money to tell people how great he is. (Oh, yeah, don't forget he's paying you to tell HIM how great he is, too)
and
2. Our guy will be YOUR President too.
And whether you realize it (or admit it) or not, you - and the rest of our great, but wounded country - will be better off.
Cheers.
