Mitt Romney made a forceful, aggressive argument in behalf of what the other night? What did the undecided voter conclude from what he had to say?
1. He has no tax, deficit, or jobs program that he is willing to stand behind. Whether Romney was offering a reasonable alternative for what ails the economy was a main concern of undecideds and independents. He demonstrated that he does not have anything besides rightwing platitudes.
2. He will kill Obamacare with relish, and his claim that he would replace it with something including prior medical conditions coverage was a lie that is now being exposed. Obamacare is relatively popular with independents, and I doubt that people are going to trust Romney here.
3. He is determined to privatize Medicare.
I do not see how any of this can be interpreted as a "victory" if you are going after independents and undecideds who are not rightwing to begin with. This is why I think Obama won the debate on substance.
