Last week the Obama campaign released its first Medicaid ad in Colorado, Virginia, Nevada, Iowa and Ohio. This week they're releasing the new one and extending its reach. It will play in eight states: New Hampshire, Virginia, North Carolina, Florida, Ohio, Iowa, Colorado and Nevada.
"It's one of the hardest decisions a family can make: realizing a nursing home is the only choice," the narrators says. "For many middle class families, Medicaid is the only way to afford the care."
The narrator adds that Romney's Medicaid proposals would cut the program by a third and burden "families with the cost of nursing home care."
"We have a president who won't let that happen," the ad says.
The Romney campaign says that the Romney/Ryan plan would give states "greater flexibility and the incentive to provide coverage more efficiently," and that wouldn't cut the program. Which is a lie. It would cut Medicaid
dramatically, by 59 percent by 2022. And that will be devastating for millions of American families.
