Andrew Sullivan had the gall to appear on MSNBC (or perhaps they had the gall to invite him) via phone and fawn all over the President and his debate performance. He described himself as "elated" by Obama's strong showing, and seemed nearly ready to call the race in Obama's favor.
All expected from a lefty blogger, and I'm sure we all feel that way.
However...
This was Andrew Sullivan last week, describing our fearless leader:
Too arrogant to take a core campaign responsibility seriously. Too arrogant to give his supporters what they deserve. If he now came out and said he supports Simpson-Bowles in its entirety, it would look desperate, but now that Romney has junked every proposal he ever told his base, and we're in mid-October, it's Obama's only chance on the economy.
Though Sullivan did admit eviscerating Obama in print, his manic interview on MSBNC all but dismissed it as folly. His blog-freakout-turned-meme should be a cautionary tale to think before you type, and perhaps an excellent lesson that just because one has the means and opportunity to blog does not mean one
should.
Shame on MSNBC for giving such an hysterical voice any airtime, when there are decent, measured, and respected pundits, analysts, and even Joe Schmoe bloggers who could write circles around Sullivan and his reactionary brand of punditry.
