Bet you never thought you would see that in a headline again.
But, something very important happened last night. And, Sarah Palin is kind of in the center of it.
I noticed something last night. Something that I've not seen reported yet. POTUS took a real risk last night and was rewarded for it. I happen to think this is a real watershed moment for race relations.
A reputable, national, African American politician was extremely aggressive to the point of risking being labeled and Angry Black Man. Know what? It went off without a hitch. Only Sarah Palin seemed to see the opening for the dog whistle:
HuffPo:
"I think President Obama certainly showed his desperation tonight with not only his mannerisms, with all of his interruptions and seemingly angered responses, but his false charges," she said...... Palin argued that Romney "came across much more presidential" and added, "He's not petulant.
So, our friend the village idiot went for the dog whistle. But you know what? None of the MSM went for it. Nobody (as far as I can tell) labeled Obama "Unpresidential". Nobody (reputable) said he seemed excessively angry.
I'm sure most won't notice this. But as someone who navigates these waters every day, I though last night was very special. A signal was sent. It's perfectly acceptable for AAs in leadership positions to be vocal and assertive and even combative in public. You don't immediately get pigeonholed into Reverend Al and Jesse territory. Even Alan Combs probably shed a tear.
