It is well known at the gym that I am a liberal & extremely loyal to Obama. I don't go out of my way to irritate the Republicans I work out with, but I do insist on not having Fox on more than one station. Based upon my experience the last several days, we must be doing something right.
I work out on the same piece of equipment for an hour each morning. It is at the end of the row & the regulars usually find their way over for a chat about how the kids are, how the family is, any vacation news, etc. I have my headphones on & usually watching the ESPN channel that is on the television directly in front of me.
As I said, I don't go out of my way to antagonize anyone, but I refuse to back down about my views. Tuesday morning, it started.
One of the regulars asked how I was, & still excited about the debate I stated really happy (although sad about the Raven's loss, which is another topic altogether). He said why, & I said that Obama won big time. Roh oh.....it was on like Donkey Kong.
I was treated to a verbal tongue lashing about how wrong I was, how Romney won, & will win in November. I was having none of it. Obviously reinforcements were called for. So another gentleman chimed in about how bad Obama has been the last four years.
That was it. I went on about who got us into this mess, who started the bailouts, & exactly what was so awful about GM thriving & Bin Ladin dying? Of course all I got was gas prices, & well not much else.
They left, but one came back to try & convince me that food prices going up was all Obama's fault. Luckily a friendly liberal was now working out with me, & we both just laughed at him.
Today, another gentleman felt the need to school me on how Obama is a Czar, Communist, Socialist. Yep, originally from Russia he felt that I had no idea just how horrible the President is. When he called me a check book liberal I totally lost it, & told him that he had no idea who I was, what I did to make people's lives better, & added a few curse words to send him on his way.
After fuming about this all day, I broke into a smile. They would not be so angry unless they were afraid that they lost the election Sunday.
Now if only the Raven's defense would strike such fear in our remaining games!
