The fundies seem to be determined to push the claim that Hurricane Sandy is some sort of warning from God.
Yesterday, one of the main opponents of New York's marriage-equality law, Rabbi Noson Leiter of Torah Jews for Decency, appeared on VCY's Crosstalk and claimed that the reason Sandy pounded New York with heavy rain was to punish it for passing that law. He claimed that Lower Manhattan was flooded due to it being "one of the national centers of homosexuality." He also likened it to the Great Flood, which he claimed was also brought on by homosexuality--a claim that any biblical scholar would find laughable. People for the American Way got a clip.
Then today, Bryan Fischer had as his guest the religious right's favorite climate-change denier, Calvin Beisner of the Cornwall Alliance. Beisner claimed Sandy was a warning of the suffering those without God are in for if they don't get on their faces and repent. He also claimed we on the left have no business howling at him--after all, we point out that a lot of major weather events are due to climate change. PFAW got a clip of this as well.
Unbelievable. The cleanup effort is still very much underway, and instead of offering help to those in need, this is what we get from these so-called men of God. Disgusting.
