It's the day after the Presidential Election - do you know where your former candidate is?

Itzl AlertingAs you can see by Itzl's concerned look, this group is for us to check in at to let people know we are alive, doing OK, and not affected by such things as heat, blizzards, floods, wild fires, hurricanes, tornadoes, power outages, or other such things that could keep us off DKos. It's also so we can find other Kossacks nearby for in-person checks when other methods of communication fail - a buddy system. Members come here to check in. If you're not here, or anywhere else on DKos, and there are adverse conditions in your area (floods, heatwaves, hurricanes, etc.), we and your buddy are going to check up on you. If you are going to be away from your computer for a day or a week, let us know here.  We care!

If you'd like to be part of the Itzl Alert Network, please leave a comment asking to join, or send us a message asking to join. We'd love to have you. The bigger our network, the less likely someone will be stranded all alone.

Oklahoma was a Republican sweep - but we already knew that was going to happen.  Oklahoma is the reddest of the red states and peculiarly proud of that.

This also means, personally, that I will not receive a pay raise until the next state legislative elections - assuming a few Democrats manage to sneak back in.

Our governor claims to support education, yet the schools consistently get budget cuts.  Oklahoma has one the best public high schools in the entire nation - and that school is struggling for funding.  The faculty and staff have to take furloughs to help keep the school inside its ever-shrinking budget.  They can't hire replacements for retirees, for faculty and staff who leave, and so the whole school is seriously short-handed - and still manages to maintain its standing as a top high school.

Our governor claims to be supportive of children -and yet the school lunch program and low income assistance programs and child care programs  and child and maternal health care programs are being cut.

I am so tired of them saying one thing and meaning something else entirely.

How can they be so proud of being so very very red?

I hope the elections went better in your state.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

but Iowa went for Obama, followed by Ohio for the win.  I was ready to wait for a final total, but on edge about Iowa.  I'm proud of my state, despite our crappy governor.

off for a while... gotta' go see if Whingey Mittens finally conceded... I bet Obama got enough of the remaining swing states to make Ohio moot!

well, they finally did give in. hallelujah. it will be interesting to see what the points REALLY are (popular vote) when they get done counting ALL the votes, in a couple of weeks. I think 2008 started at 2% and ended at 7%???

it is even better to be a woman and a member of the 47%.

So glad that Mittens didn't win the white house.  Don't need that crap, and honestly I would consider moving to Canada.

Either way, I am up later than usual, as I don't start until 7. Huzzah for sleeping in.  Either way, may be leaving early, haven't decided yet.

We're the "reddest of the red" states and damned proud of it.  We have open carry and education budgets being slashed and statewide hiring freezes and other things that are dragging us back into the Dark Ages.

We are the suck-hole of America, politically speaking.

It astonishes me because most people in OK are really nice people, how could they vote so cruelly? How can they vote in such derogatory and callous ways?

It's a bright new day. Another four years :). Now it's time for the real work to start again.... after a bit of celebration, and a sigh of relief.

Noddy, thank you for those diaries yesterday, that was great and just what many of us needed as things got tense. I'm sure Itzl is glad to be back to business as normal at the office today!

figure out who would be a decent candidate for 2016.  And there isn't a bright star among the teeming masses right now.  A few glimmers maybe, but nothing special.

in Florida, first we have to vote Rick Scott out of office in two years. That's the next big one for us. However, the fact that his attempts to change the state Constitution and get rid of the judges who are fair and not in his pocket gives me hope for that. Just need a good person to run against him.

look what disasters happened when so many Dems slept through 2010 -- all those horrible Republican governors and Secretaries of State and state legislatures that popped up like a bunch of poison mushrooms, out of the ALEC/Koch/dark money $$$h*T !!!!

let's see how complacent folks are by 2014, if the still-RED House has succeeded in stifling Obama's work as well as they did before 2010!?!?

I don't agree with a lot of PBO's more conservative instincts, but getting mad at HIM when the R's were so obviously, openly & gleefully NOT cooperating, no matter what he offered to roll on (and sometimes did unilaterally! argh!!) was just SO STUPID!

the next election is a Democratic shoo-in, that we don't need to have a stellar candidate because they'll automatically win.

I think resting on our laurels  or getting complacent will get us in trouble.

They aren't going to let up, and neither should we.

The best I can see on the 2016 ticket would be Hillary/Castro, and I'm not too confident about that combination being able to win as early as 2016.

The Republicans still have Ryan to run again.  And Christie could flip-flop once his state is back in order from Democratic assistance. And maybe they'll resurrect Romney somehow. There's really no predicting right now what the Republicans will do and they have so many choices to groom and use.

  •  Oh what a good morning! (6+ / 0-)

Not only did our president win, but I finally have a democratic congressman.  The cherry on the top is that my stupid wingnut brother has been down in Florida for the last month helping his new bff Alan West.  Alan West LOST.
    Win Win Win!!!!

Hey Noddy, you talk about moving someday, how bout moving somewhere blue?

    Have a great day!

I am a work in progress. Still.
