Wingnuttery is a disease with no cure as evidenced by the posts this AM on Red State
Recognizing that all of my usual reading sources would be ecstatic with the results of the election, I thought it would be educational to see what the "loyal opposition" had to say. Simply stated, it is Apocolypse Now Redux.
The fear mongering, racial sub-text, bitterness is overwhelming. Reading these posts is a very depressing, yet illustrative, reason for WHY the republicans lost and the GOP of November 5th is no more. There is no recognition of the fact that the world as they know it has changed nor an understanding of how democracy actually works. - they must have played hooky during their high school civics and history classes. They are mourning a world that hasn't existed other then in their own mind with no recognition of how their ancestors came to this country - as immigrants - and had to lift themselves up. They conveniently forget their history and that the dark days of our country were/are rooted in slavery, an offense against man and the god the so many of them profess allegiance to. They are oblivious to demographics and the fact that the country IS changing and that grumpy old white guys are not going to be what leads us into the future.
Christianity is their refuge, but they conveniently ignore Christ's teachings of inclusion and opt for just the opposite, all the while wrapping themselves in the flag and holding a bible (and a gun) - which they take literally to support their illogical and parochial beliefs. Yes. I am demonstrating intolerance, but it is out of frustration that many of my felllow citizens disregard facts for fiction and allow demogogues like Rove, deMint, King, Trump (and believe everything they hear/see on Fox) and their ilk to lead them because it is easier to accept their rantings as fact then to actually think and understand reality. A reality driven by science, math and common sense and decency. Oh yeah, and the teachings of the man that they supposedly revere above all else.
Hypocrisy is just another word for republicans and I see little chance of that changing in the near term.
