I live in Oregon. We vote by mail. I received my ballot in the mail around October 21st. They are mailed out to all registered voters. I also got the voter's pamphlet with economic summaries of all the measures and statements pro and con from the various groups and individuals.
I had a chance to consider all the candidates and measures. I had a chance to do some additional research if the voter's pamphlet didn't answer all my questions. I could call candidates up and ask them questions.
I voted on October 30th and went to Hawaii on November 1st. I'm sitting on the Big Island reflecting on how great mail in voting is.
We had an incident with a worker altering some ballots. He needs to be prosecuted.
In looking at our Secretary of State's web site it looks like we had 66.69% of the registered voters voted state wide. My county had over 80%.
We have all the paper ballots sitting around ready to be recounted if necessary.
As far as I know no one waited in any lines.
It seems like a very convenient and civilized way to run an election.
