Wondering what the unskewed polls guy has to say about last night's decisive victory? Well, he was actually quite humble in his response:
"Nate Silver was right, and I was wrong," Chambers said in a phone interview.
But, he doesn't take the full blame, it was actually Scott Rasmussen's fault:
"He has lost a lot of credibility, as far as I'm concerned," Chambers said. "He did a lot of surveys. A lot of those surveys were wrong."
So, my advice to unskewed polls guy, if he reads this, is: if you have hundreds and hundreds of data points that suggest one thing, and a handful of data points that suggest the opposite thing, the former is likely correct. Yes, it's true that Rasmussen was wrong, but it is not his fault that YOU were wrong. Your failure was in disregarding all the data that didn't line up with your beliefs. Nate Silver was right because he looked at ALL the data, including outliers like Rasmussen and Gravis Marketing. The fact that you were able to "unskew" the polls and relay that information in a way that resonates means that you understand math more than most. Now, the trick is to learn to trust the math.
