Chris Matthews is often regarded with contempt around here, although perhaps less so recently. But I was really touched by his apology about his comments about hurricane Sandy.

Once in a while in this game, you hear someone apologize, but more often it's the non-apology apology. Or it's the smug that's-too-bad-you-feel-the-need-for-an-apology apology. But Matthews evinces genuine remorse here, and it's a rare thing and should be appreciated whenever it happens.
It helps us remember what it is to be a human being.
