This was completely spontaneous.  I got off work early and thought it would be interesting to catch up with El Rushbo's world on the way home.  He was predictably unhinged.

As I later settled on the porch with my laptop to soak up some solar energy, I had another bright idea: transcribe the last hour in an effort to see what's happening in Limbaugh Land today.  This is the result, offered without further comment.

The following was transcribed by the diarist, from the live Rush Limbaugh show 11/8/2012, 14:08-15:00 EST, sans ability to repeat or rewind.  Rush can talk faster than I can type, but he also repeats himself frequently so there was some time to catch up.  His words are in bold, edits were made only for spelling and punctuation.  As for it making sense, can't help you there.

Tune in below, as tolerated.

2:08  The Democrat party is Santa Claus.  It’s hard to beat Santa Claus.
“Santa Claus is free stuff”  The unemployed have cell phones, cars, tvs, they have it all.  And they’re eating. Minimum 99 weeks.

(Rant about ad “accusing” Romney of letting guy’s wife die, ending with, “It’s obvious Romney’s core is morality.”)

Why doesn’t GOP minority outreach work?  Because hard work is not what an Obama voter is interested in.

Who are these people that believe this drivel, these lies, this rotten stuff about GWB that’s been put out there?  We were too nice to Obama.  We should have really gone after him.

Can we deal with 4 more years of not just Obama, but these people that would vote for him?  Way too many Americans believe a bunch of lies but we defend their 1st amendment rights.  They shut us down, we don’t think about shutting them down, we think about beating them.

(Goes off on a long tangent about a blonde named Rita and people named Bennett. Gets to Bob Bennett, plays a sound byte by him condemning Rush, calls Bennett nasty names, ending with Alinskyite.  It’s obvious because Obama never compromises.)

Now he’s in some monster role-playing message of doom, leading to: 3 millions repubs didn’t vote, and we would have won.  Why do Hispanics vote for Democrats?  Hint: it’s not immigration policy.  Scholar Heather McDonald -- 75% vote Democrat becuase they believe in social safety net and free stuff.

Single women don’t need husbands because the Democrat party is the husband, provides BCP and all the abortions they want.  You have to reach those voters, tell them why they’re wrong, and talk them out of it.  Do we have to tell the Catholic church to shut up?  That’s what Democrats do, and they get votes.

(off on tangent on 3rd parties...)

Regarding Krauthammer, the GOP needs to be more open to amnesty with Rubio as its head cheerleader.  Then we come out for abortion and get the women’s vote.  Problem is, the Hispanic vote is not voting for the Democrat party on the basis of immigration policy.  It’s nothing to to with immigration policy.  This is a trap.

(end of segment)

2:25  Commercial break

2:29  72% of voters tuesday were white.  George Stephanopoulos is too old, male, too white to be on TV.  Get a Hispanic or a pregnant woman that’s going to have an abortion, then have it televised.  We have to get rid of white people on TV, they don’t get an audience.

(Confirming Iran has fired at a US drone in Persian Gulf.)

Iranians are firing drones at us, what have we done now?  It can’t be the film guy, they got him.  There has to be a sequel to the Mohammed movie.

2:30 break

(during commercials I check news sites; no mention of drone attack in Iran.  WTF?)

2:34  News update

2:35  News network ratings were down from 2008 this year because old white males.  Megyn Kelly in high heels trying to keep Karl Rove happy.  A Michigan couple is afraid to check mail because identity theft.  If they have been members of Life Lock this would never have happened. (Rush goes off into weird mid-segment live plug for Life Lock.)

2:37
Caller 1: Elizabeth, Palm Springs FL, naturalized American citizen: "There are 2 types of Hispanic voters: one who earns the right to vote, family oriented, conservative.  Then you have illegals who because of amnesty became citizens & can vote.  The first type believes in the American way."

Rush: The Hispanic vote is not monolithic, Hispanics are all over the GOP.  Hispanics are not Democrat because immigration.  The GOP thinks Hispanics vote on immigration.  It’s not the government that’s Santa Claus, it’s the Democrat party that’s promising all this freebie stuff.  Lose your job?  They’ll take care of you.

Free stuff.  That’s the appeal of the Democrat party.  The question is, are we outnumbered?  Conservatives say government, get the hell out of the way.  We want to prosper.

The Democrat party has done everything it can to be sure people do not think Hard Work = Prosperity.  The Democrat party lives and breathes the day on the entire explanation of how prosperity happens & wealth is created.  Democrats have a distorted understanding of prosperity.   The Democrat party feeds off people thinking life isn’t fair.

Caller 2: AA female poll volunteer, describes diverse turnout at polls, wonders if some just stayed home.  Why don’t Black people vote GOP?  Because GOP is portrayed as racist and it’s not fair.

Rush: What’s wrong with old white men? What is that?

Caller 2: The word conservative = racist, sexist, bigot, homophobe to a lot of people.

Rush: How ridiculous is that?

Caller 2: The media is corrupt

Rush: I know what the media says about me.   His question is, it’s untrue.  There is no desire to return to slavery, Jim Crow, because Clarence Thomas & Condi Rice

Caller 2: When Black people support GOP they are seen as sellouts

Rush: Not the GOP’s fault & not true.  A woman said she wasn’t voting for Romney because he’s cruel to dogs.  There is no move to go back to slavery, or any of the things Democrats fear.  It’s a problem for us, but it isn’t true.  We’re being outnumbered by people who think this way & they’re not a damn thing we can do policy wise about it.  I gotta take a break.

2:50: Commercial break

2:52
(Opens segment with lengthy plug for Blinds.com, if you’re rebuilding or remodeling.)

2:55  Back to the drone strike (alluded to at 2:29.)  It actually happened on Nov. 1 but we didn’t hear about it until after the election.

2:56
(More ads)

2:59 We have murderers and rapists walking free but a filmmaker is in jail.  Wonder if the filmmaker did something to make the Iranians mad, since they fired on us?

(End of show)

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

Probably heard it here.  The GOP really had a black female poll worker??  LOL!  Ya, right.  And Romney's going to win the election in a landslide.

Love to hear Rush imploding.  He knows his relevance is slip-slidin' away.  :D

thought. especially leading up to particular political events.

those two callers get in a lot of talking points to reinforce his crap.

the call screeners let a few real calls through but they can't risk a nut job getting racist, etc. on the national scale. some local talk radio shows take real calls (along with paid callers) and there's a difference. paid callers are usually coherent and succinct and reinforce the topic or introduce another relevant talking point (excuse, attack, rumor, etc) or praise the blowhard. the time is valuable. the real callers are often all over the place and in the afternoon and night maybe drunk.

there's a company that supplies paid callers- premiere on call or something, but i wouldn't be surprised if the heritage foundation has a basement full of them calling around the country.

screen caller software is very useful, maybe takes paid callers (maybe with a particular area code, etc)  to the top of the list.

      great advertising for the GOP.

  •  Thanks, but sorry you had to swim in his sewer (7+ / 0-)

To think, I was once a die-hard Republican and listened to that stuff every day.

I also used to smoke, and today I can't stand to be in the presence of either cigarette smoke or Limbaugh's voice.

They're about the same for me.

    Cheers.

I started listening to Rush in the late 80's, when I was still a Republican.  Saw the light in '92, voted for Clinton, and have never looked back politically.  But I've always kept an ear to RW radio and, more recently, blogs.  A "know thine enemy" thing, I guess!

obsession with abortions and constantly talking about televising women having sex or women having abortions?  This is the most bizarre thing....(well, it's a crowded field for "most" but really, this makes no sense even by wingnut parameters)

Similar to the hate mailers obsessed with "homosexual" imagery.

Of all the ugly, this quote was one of the most unsettling to me:

Have part of their psyche dedicated to the insect/rodent model of reproduction, which is to breed profligately, omit nurturing, and let the chips fall where they may.  Liberals follow reproductive patterns of focused reproduction with a lot of involvement and nurturing.  Quality over quantity.

Abortion undercuts a core part of their programming to generate mass quantities of offspring with an "of the fittest" hands-off approach to their survival.

too much attention to the ads, just keeping up with the show was a challenge.  No "quality" advertisers I was able to recognize, though.

It was exceedingly odd to hear him delivering ads personally on air, as part of the show itself.  Comes off as kinda desperate.
