The New York Times has
an awesome graphic about how the City voted and where.
Basically Obama dominated in all the places where one would expect him to: Dominant in Harlem. Dominant in Jewish heavy Riverdale and the Latino heavy South Bronx. Dominant in Greenwhich Village. Ha faced no competition in Central Brooklyn, except an Orthodox pocket in Crown Heights. He ran away with the vote in all three Chinatowns and in Asian heavy Flushing. He won the Arab vote in Brooklyn and the Indian vote in Eastern Queens. He also won in a great many white ethnic neighborhoods. You can see he won in Italian Bay Ridge, Irish Bayside, and Greek Astoria.
The places where Obama lost big time was among the Hasidim of all stripes. He lost both the Satmar in Willamsburg and the Bobover in Borough Park. Even the normally slightly more open minded Lubavitchers of Crown Heights voted for Romney, albeit by lesser margins. Other heavily Conservative Jewish areas like Mill Basin and some of your Russian areas he lost as well. And of course he lost out in the remote areas of Staten Island where your Archie Bunker types live.
That dense patch of dark blue you see is the People's Republic of the Upper West Side.
Romney won Trump Tower and a tiny precinct on Park Avenue where David Koch lives. Surprise surprise.
