Here's Senator Tom Coburn (R-OK) complaining about proposed changes to filibuster rules:
If you take away minority rights, which is what you’re doing because you’re an ineffective leader, you’ll destroy the place.Can we dispense with this "minority rights" nonsense right now? Republicans aren't a religious minority, a racial minority, or anything of the sort. The Senate majority has no moral obligation or logical reason to protect a group that achieved minority status by nature of the fact that their ideas lost a series of elections.
There are strong arguments to be made for (and against) maintaining a filibuster in one form or another, but maintaining "rights" for the losers of an election is not among them. I'm just sayin'.
