From the article at GQ:

The only successful thing he did this year was embody every black stand-up comedian's impression of a white person.
Otherwise I don't have much use for the article, but it poleaxes Romney.  What a result for $400M.  Think of all the other things that money could have bought.

More Tagging tips:

A tag is a way to search for this diary. If someone is searching for "Barack Obama," is this a diary they'd be trying to find?

Use a person's full name, without any title. Senator Obama may become President Obama, and Michelle Obama might run for office.

If your diary covers an election or elected official, use election tags, which are generally the state abbreviation followed by the office. CA-01 is the first district House seat. CA-Sen covers both senate races. NY-GOV covers the New York governor's race.

Tags do not compound: that is, "education reform" is a completely different tag from "education". A tag like "reform" alone is probably not meaningful.

Consider if one or more of these tags fits your diary: Civil Rights, Community, Congress, Culture, Economy, Education, Elections, Energy, Environment, Health Care, International, Labor, Law, Media, Meta, National Security, Science, Transportation, or White House. If your diary is specific to a state, consider adding the state (California, Texas, etc). Keep in mind, though, that there are many wonderful and important diaries that don't fit in any of these tags. Don't worry if yours doesn't.

as he's clearly a Republican who cast a hold-your-nose vote for Romney; as far as Republican commentary goes this is fairly even-handed. I mean, the CEO of Chase made the list.

Of course his wife and kids really helped fill-in the picture to make them the Whitest Family in America. They weren't just white, they were painfully white. Hell, Mitt even got a spray-on tan. :P

I remember after the 2008 election, I think it was Chris Rock who said, "Bush was such a bad president it made being white a handicap". Sadly after this election we still can't say that being a rich douchebag is a handicap to run for office.

To me progress is not so much a goal as it is a process and I believe it will not follow a straight course. Remember, the drops of water that form the river may not take the shortest path but they will still reach the ocean.

to the (what is to me) complete non-starter of a contention that what we need is an(other) "MBA president."

gwb, the first to stake such a claim, displayed the managerial acumen of something gross spotted on the sidewalk away from which one would walk with haste / dispatch.

and as for romney, the most charitable way i can put it is that i have serious misgivings about the ethical underpinnings of his business world conduct.

under the banner of being a strong business leader. And he followed on the heels of Calvin "The business of America is business" Coolidge. We don't learn from history, recent or otherwise. So I think we'll see another MBA presidential candidate from the GOP in the near future. :P

for your kind assistance with my u.s. history brain fart. of course.

and yes -- in spite of the naively optimistic tone of my comment, i do concur that that someone else will come along, and probably soon, to pull that very same wool over our collective eyes.

  •  Mitt just might of had a "kicker" in the deal.. (0+ / 0-)

I mean after all.. it wasn't 400 million of his money..

Come to think of it.. his single largest risk area is his tax liability.. why I bet that adds up to well over 100 million before potential interest and penalties.

Romney might have had no influence, except for where he thinks it really counted anyway - that is to say, in his own mind he might of just positioned himself as...

    "too big to be audited"

the Right would scream retaliation if the IRS audited him now.. which of course, is exactly what they should do..

I wouldn't put it past Romney's warped way of thinking to consider this his upside kicker regardless of the election's outcome, in which case he might have succeeded in influencing the real target after all..

  •  Sarah Palin is not on the list? (0+ / 0-)

    That makes the list meaningless.
