Oh, the irony! In the wake of John Boehner's massive failure to get his Plan B passed by his own caucus in the House, those words spoken by him earlier Thursday ring rather hollow:
House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) said on Thursday that the reason so-called fiscal cliff negotiations have stalled is that President Obama is having some trouble standing up to his own party on entitlement cuts.
"I'm convinced the president is unwilling to stand up to his own party," Boehner said at a press conference on Capitol Hill.
The President is having trouble standing up to his own party on entitlement cuts? Really? If the President 'can't stand up' to his own party, what do you call what Speaker Boehner can't do?
It's like an epitaph! It doesn't get any better than this!
Speaker Boehner refused in the fiscal 'cliff' negotiations to submit any proposals for spending cuts to President Obama. Rather he tried to get Obama to suggest them himself, for Boehner to reject. Which, Obama finally did and Boehner summarily rejected. Then, Boehner finally announced his spending cut wishlist but rather than presenting them to the President, he went about it in his chickenshit way and put it up for a vote in the House. Unfortunately for him, he got punked by his own Party, which he obviously is unwilling to stand up to.
